Kyoto Travel Tips

Visas

Visitors from some countries need visas to enter Japan. If so, apply at the Japanese Consulate or a diplomatic mission in your country. Please note that sometimes one to two months will be needed for obtaining the visa.

Climate

The weather in the Kyoto area during the conference is expected to be fine. However, the rainy sea-son may start sooner or later sometime around the conference period. Therefore, bringing umbrella is advisable. The temperature in this season is about 14-25 degrees Celsius (57-77 degrees Fahrenheit).

Currency

Currency cannot be exchanged at the conference site. Exchanging currency at the airport, banks, or hotels is recommended.

Traveler's checks and credit cards

The use of traveler's checks in Japan is not very popular. Credit cards, such as VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club, and American Express, are widely accepted at hotels, shops and restaurants, although we will not accept any credit card for the on-site registration.

Electric Power

In Kyoto area, electric voltage is 100V and the frequency is 60Hz.
