It is with deep regret that we, the MVA Conference Committee, have to inform you that the Machine Vision and Image Processing Community has lost one of its most outstanding leaders: Prof. Mikio Takagi, the founding chair of the IAPR International Workshop on Machine Vision Applications (MVA) and the chairs of its consecutive series for the last 20 years. He contributed a great deal to the progress of Machine Vision and Image Processing technology, and his sadly unexpected and early passing leaves a large scientific, social and personal void. However, the rich heritage he has left is of inestimable benefit to the community and mankind. We hereby express our deepest condolences for his death, especially to his family. We are sure his memory will remain with us all. Condolences from the Japanese committee members, those from abroad, and Prof. Takagi's personal history and his achievements can be found by following the links below. |
