Condolences from overseas Program Committee members

A deep condolences for passing away of Prof. Mikio Takagi. Time goes by very fast. He was really a good teacher for me, a wise man with an open mind to receive others in his Lab at IIS. First time I came to Japan in 1988, I was staying in his Lab for more than 1 month as a post Doc student from Indonesia. Since than I've got involved to MVA. I really missed him.. Hope the next MVA07 still fulfill with joy as usual.. Sayonara Prof...

I am terribly sad that Mikio Takagi passed away! He was such a friendly and optimistic man. It was always such a joy to be with him and talk with him. It's a shame that he left this world. He was the pushing factor for the MVA that he brought, together with many of you, to this important workshop. He was a great scholar. So I grieve with you and his family! Please tell them that I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet him on various occasions, and that won't forget him. Yours truly,

I'm very sad to hear this. I had the fortune to meet Prof. Takagi several times, especially at ICPRs and during IAPR Governing Board meetings. The international scientific community will miss him. If possible, please convey my condolences to his family and colleagues.

It was so sorrowful to read your email. Prof. Takagi was a great scientist, colleague, and friend. His death is a terrible loss for the image processing community.

Thank you for the information, and best regards,
